Scrapbook News and Review is accepting Layout submissions for it's March faithbooking column. The topic, this month, is Easter. Any page that deals with Easter- from your families traditions, to the reason for the Holiday are perfect. I am also looking for Easter decorations in this call.

There is a new blog out there, and I am so excited! I have followed Diane's Card blog for a while. I love her heart, and her passion for Christ. I have worked with her on a couple of projects, and I can tell you- she is as sweet and helpful as the day is long!

I bought a stack of them, and have been using them to pieces! They are perfect for card sentiments- but they add a great touch as journaling to layouts, too!

A couple of things to tell you all, today! First- the January issue of Scrapbook News and Review is up- YEAH!! As always, this is an awesome issue! I am constantly amazed at the talent we have on staff. The cool thing is, as we grow and people hear about us- we are getting so much great input and contributions from our readers, too! So awesome to see the magazine grow, evolve and improve. If you haven't checked us out, I highly recommend it!! There is just soooo much there!!

The other thing I wanted to mention: I had a couple of people ask me for the blog address for last week's Featured Layout. Understandable- it was totally incredible, wasn't it?! Well, keep your eyes peeled...cause I have a feeling she might be Featured Blog real soon, lol!!

So many people have Iphones and Blackberries and nifty cell phones, I just had to mention this resource. Imagine having an entire Bible- and Bible reference library with you- all the time...how awesome would that be?! Olive Tree Software has versions of their program out for a huge list of platforms and devices- including a free desktop version. This also includes daily reading plans and devotionals- so you can use your lunch hours for the Lord and learning. Cool, huh?!

OK, I have to point out Patter's new challenge series. Remember, last year she hosted the incredible Scripture Memory Verse Challenge. I loved that!! I didn't get to play every year- but I am hoping to add a few more cards in this year, as she replays it.

This year, Patter is hosting a Names of God Challenge. This is so cool! Every OTHER week, she gives us an attribute of God. We get to scrap about it. This week was HOLY. What a great chance to do a little study on the word Holy, talk to God a bit about it...then scrap our thoughts on it! Now, I actually have my Payer Journal set up in a 3 ring binder. (Decorated- of course, lol). This lets me set up sections the way I wanted. I mention this, because I have a section in my Prayer Journal for 8 1/2x 11 layouts I scrap on topics the Lord and I are working on. I have found it an incredible time of learning and growth, as We scrap together...and I love looking back over our lessons, too! My Names of God pages are going straight into this section!!

Today, we are doing something just a little different. Today, we are the stop on the Scrapbook News and Review blog-o-log. I just finished the best book: Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers. Dang, this was a great book! She wrote this as a fictional book- sort of a Christian Romance. Really, it is a parable, though. It shows us, in a very hands on way, the lengths God goes to persue His Beloved...hey, that's us!! Definitely a recommended, read!

This week I want to encourage you to do something hard...something you may not want to. I want you to consider doing a page about a period when your marriage wasn't perfect. Maybe it was just a dry spell, maybe it was a conflict...whatever. I really believe we need to show the bad times with the good...the struggles with the highlights in our family albums---for a couple of reasons.

1) It's therapeutic for you to get it out, and prayerfully work through it with God's help and insight.

2) It is important for our family (read children, and perhaps the unchurched) to see that marriage- and a Christians life, in general, is not all romance and fairy tales.

So, please- give it a go...and show us what you come up with- I know I would be encouraged to see your pages!

Yeah!! Issue 7- October's Scrapbook News and Review has published!! This month, the topic for the faithbooking column is A Marraige of Ideals.

"Ask scrappers when they got their start and many will say when they got married. Logical, isn’t it? Marriage is the start of a new life together; it makes sense to start chroniciling that life. But, if the only thing you scrap about your marriage is your wedding, you’re missing some great, God-given opportunities!"

I would encourage anyone to stop by the magazine and read the column this month, for great- hands on ways to scrap your marraige, enrich your commitment to your spouse, and encourage your beloved in a very real way!!

Meanwhile, the challenge for this month is to scrap a page about your spouse. Tell them how you feel, encourage them, or remember why you love them. It will encourage both of you, I promise!!

In fact, trials and hardships are promised to us...but it is also promised that God will stand there with us. He will be our Strength and our Shield...our Rock and our Comforter. So many promises and verses leap to mind.

This week, your challenge is to choose a favorite promise verse- one that reminds you that God will see you through the hardtimes- and scrap it. Even if you are not going through a hard time right now- just the reminder verse can be an encouragement and testimony!!

Fireproof

Rarely are Christians given the choice of good, life affirming...faith affirming movies. So when one pops up...it deserves a mention!! Here's an excert from Christianity Today's Review:

The story this time concerns a firefighter named Caleb Holt (Kirk Cameron) whose wife of seven years, Catherine (Erin Bethea), wants a divorce. Caleb is ready to give up on the marriage altogether, but his father, John (Harris Malcom), gives him a book called The Love Dare and challenges him to follow its steps before throwing in the towel. Since Fireproof has been endorsed by a plethora of marriage ministries, you can pretty much guess how things will turn out. But the Kendricks earn their resolution this time; instead of dropping miracles and messages from God on their characters, they keep the story focused on the Holts and driven by the choices that the Holts make.

You all are planning to attend the WCD Winter Wonderland Card Crop at SNR- right?! Fact is, Jenna and I have been crazy busy getting everything ready for our fun day. You would not believe what we have planned for you!! Challenges, games, tons and tons of prizes.... anyway, I took a moment, cause I had to post the current call for you!

Ok, found another author I need to recommend to you: Francine Rivers. She has written quite a few, but the 2 series I have recently been working through deal with men and women of the Bible. The Sons of Encouragement Series takes a look at the lives of a Priest (Aaron), Prophet(Amos), Scribe (Silas), Warrior (Caleb) and Prince. Then there is the Lieage of Grace series- that looks at 5 women named in the lineage of Christ. These are awesome books...and a great way to make the Bible come alive.

I have recently started reading for enjoyment, again. I used to read voraciously as a teenager and young adult...but somehow I lost that over the years. Still not a bookworm, but I have been enjoying it. thought I would recommend a series to you: AD Chronicles, by the Thoene's. This is one of my favorite series of all time- and highly, highly recommended...I would love to make it required reading for all Christians. This takes the life of Christ- and makes it readable for the average person. They do not change history, and the research is impeccable. What they do is take the accounts from the points of view of others in the story- like the blind begger that Jesus healed, the centurion who pleaded for the healing of his servant, and the shepherds who witnessed the angels sing. Imagine delving into their thoughts and feelings! Very cool!!

your Faith based layouts for its monthly column: A Faith Perspective.
This month, we are specifically looking for faith based layouts dealing
with marriage, your spouse, foundations of marriage, etc. What does
your marriage mean? Where is God in your Marriage? How is your spouse a
blessing to you? These are a few of the questions your layout might
choose to address.
